ST. LOUIS, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Adam Wainwright pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings to notch his 19th win Saturday, staking the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-2 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Wainwright (19-9) allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out five for the National League Central champion Cards.

Matt Holliday cracked a two-run homer and Yadier Molina went 2-for-2 with a two-run double for St. Louis, which clinched its season-ending three-game series.

The win gave the Cards a 96-65 record, one more win than NL East champion Atlanta in the race for the NL's best mark.

Cubs starter Edwin Jackson (8-18) was roughed up for six runs on eight hits, lasting just 2 2/3 innings.

Anthony Rizzo homered for Chicago.
