CINCINNATI, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Terence Newman's fumble recovery for a touchdown late in the game gave Cincinnati the lead and the Bengals held on for a wild 34-30 win over Green Bay Sunday.

With the Packers clinging to 30-27 lead with less than 5 minutes to play, rookie running back Johnathan Franklin was stripped of the ball at the line of scrimmage.

Cincinnati's Reggie Nelson picked it up and then lost it, but Newman was there to gather in the loose ball and speed untouched 58 yards into the end zone.

The big play came after Green Bay had stormed back from a 14-0 deficit with 30 straight points, only to surrender 13 straight fourth-quarter points to the Bengals (2-1).

Green Bay (1-2) had one last chance to win it as Aaron Rodgers guided the Packers to the Cincinnati 25-yard line in the closing seconds, but a pair of desperation passes were tipped at the line of scrimmage to seal the Bengals' win.
