SEOUL, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Kimiko Date-Krumm, whose first WTA match came in 1989, ousted second-seeded Maria Kirilenko in a second-round match of the KDB Korea Open in Seoul.
Date-Krumm, 42, defeated Maya Kidowaki in April 1989 -- about three months after Kirilenko's second birthday -- for her first WTA match win and continued her lengthy career with a 6-3, 6-1 win Thursday over Kirilenko. She claimed 60 percent of the points on serve and 59 percent off Kirilenko's serves, getting six breaks in the process.
