MLB: St. Louis 11, Colorado 4

DENVER, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Matt Holliday and Matt Carpenter combined for five RBI in the St. Louis Cardinals' 11-4 rout of the Colorado Rockies Tuesday.

Holliday went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, and Carpenter drove in two runs and scored three times in the victory, which bumped the Cardinals into sole possession of first place in the NL Central, one game ahead of Pittsburgh.

Yadier Molina and Daniel Descalso both added two RBI and two hits to the 18-hit St. Louis attack.

Joe Kelly (9-4) earned the victory with five scoreless innings in which he allowed three hits and walked two batters.

Juan Nicasio (8-8) took the loss for the Rockies, who have lost four of their last five contests. Michael Cuddyer, DJ LeMahieu and Charlie Culberson all had an RBI in the loss.
