MLB: Detroit 6, Seattle 2

DETROIT, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera clouted his 44th homer of the season Tuesday and the Detroit Tigers got closer to a division title with a 6-2 win over Seattle.

Austin Jackson drove in a pair of runs and Torii Hunter broke a 2-2 tie with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly off Yoervis Medina (4-6) as the Tigers lowered their magic number for taking the American League Central to six.

Al Aburquerque (3-3) was credited with the decision after starter Anibal Sanchez had allowed two runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings, striking out 10.

Raul Ibanez smacked a solo homer for Seattle.
