METZ, France, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Qualifier Marton Fucsovics upset No. 7-seed Jeremy Chardy in a first-round match Tuesday at the Moselle Open tennis tournament in France.

Fucsovics, ranked 239th in the world -- 200 spots behind Chardy -- came away a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) winner as he was able to claim the only break of the first set and matched Chardy with another break in the second.

No. 8-seeded Florida Mayer was able to beat Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-2, 7-5 because he saved all four of the break points he faced. He lost only 18 points over his 10 games serving.

Sijsling fired off 31 aces and lost his serve once -- a drop that cost him the second set. Mathieu only allowed Sijsling two break chances, however, and saved both while winning 76 percent of the points on serve over all.
