Supreme Court next stop for Barry Bonds?

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- A federal appeals court ruled against former baseball star Barry Bonds, meaning he will likely soon be spending a month under home confinement.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco Friday decided the one-time Giants slugger tried to divert the attention of the grand jury during testimony in the BALCO steroids case, which amounted to obstruction.

Bonds could appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court; however, NBC News said it was unlikely the high court would accept the case.

NBC said the jury instructions barred the trial jury from considering areas elsewhere in the testimony when Bonds supposedly gave a definite answer to the question he was accused of evading.

There was no immediate comment from Bonds and his legal team as to whether he would seek an appeal or give it up and look forward to being stuck in house detention for 30 days.
