Lucie Safarova, Marina Erakovic to face off in Quebec final

Sept. 14, 2013 at 5:56 PM   |   Comments

QUEBEC, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Lucie Safarova will face off against No. 6 Marina Erakovic for the Bell Challenge title after each won a semifinal match Saturday in Quebec.

Safarova rallied past Montreal-area native and fifth-seeded Eugenie Bouchard 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in one of the day's semifinals.

The Czech will be seeking to break a five-match losing streak in championship tilts, including a loss in the 2009 Quebec finale.

Her opponent will be 2011 finalist Erakovic of New Zealand, who advanced with a 6-4, 6-3 decision over American Christina McHale.

She has one previous a title -- a victory at Memphis this year.
