TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Bojana Jovanovski took a third-set tiebreaker Thursday in claiming a spot in the semifinals of the Tashkent Open tennis tournament in Uzbekistan.

No. 7-seeded Galina Voskoboeva had a fast start but Jovanovski rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win. Jovanovski suffered seven service breaks, including three in the final set.

Voskoboeva got her final break with Jovanovski serving for the match but Jovanovski, who won just 51 percent of the points on serve, took three of the last four points in the tiebreaker to advance.

Jovanovski is the only seeded player to make the semifinals in Tashkent as third-seeded Yvonne Meusburger and No. 5-seeded Alexandra Cadantu both fell in straight sets Thursday.

Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor ousted Meusburger with a 6-3, 6-0 rout in 51 minutes. Torro-Flor dropped just 11 points over eight games serving and didn't face a break point. Olga Govortsova topped Cadantu 6-3, 6-2 with a pair of breaks in each set.

Mandy Minella edged by Nastassja Burnett 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 in a match between unseeded players. Minella fought off all three break points she saw in the second set while cashing in her one chance for a break.
