MLS: Montreal 4, New England 2

FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Patrice Bernier and Marco Di Vaio each scored twice Sunday and the Montreal Impact regained first place in their conference with a 4-2 win over New England.

Bernier scored on penalty kicks in the 8th and 33rd minutes to hand Montreal a 2-1 lead. Di Vaio added his MLS-best 16th and 17th goals en route to the victory.

The Impact (13-7-6) finished the night with 45 points, equaling New York and Sporting Kansas City atop the Eastern Conference standings, but held the top spot on tie-breakers.

The Revolution (10-11-7) missed a chance to jump ahead of Philadelphia for sole possession of fourth place in the East.
