Sept. 8, 2013 at 5:24 PM

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Darin Ruf smacked a go-ahead solo homer in the eighth inning Sunday and the Philadelphia Phillies beat Atlanta 3-2 to complete a three-game sweep.

Ruf's leadoff blast against David Carpenter (3-1) broke a 2-2 tie and the Phillies held on to sweep a series for the first time since taking four straight from Miami in June.

B.J. Rosenberg recorded his first career save after starter Cole Hamels (7-13) had yielded two runs on two hits over eight innings, striking out nine.

Rookie Evan Gattis socked a pair of solo homers to provide the offense for the National League East-leading Braves.
