HOUSTON, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Royce White of the Philadelphia 76ers is under investigation in Texas for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, TMZ reported Wednesday.

The celebrity website said model Tania Mehra filed a police report last week about an incident that occurred in June in White's Houston-area home. Police sources say someone from the home called 911 on June 22 to report lacerations to their face, TMZ reported.

At the time, Mehra said a laceration above her right eye was caused by an accidental fall. In last week's incident report, Mehra alleged Royce was to blame for her injury.

"The victim said she had lied earlier because the suspect played for the NBA and did not want the incident to damage his career," TMZ quoted an unidentified police officer as saying.

White, 22, who missed the previous basketball season as a member of the Houston Rockets with an anxiety disorder and other mental health issues, was named in the incident report.
