WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Oklahoma City Thunder guard DeAndre Liggins was arrested for domestic abuse Sunday, jail records showed.

Liggins, 25, was booked Saturday night on $8,000 bail on charges including domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

A police report on the incident was not immediately available, but Oklahoma City Police Lt. Arthur Gregory told The Oklahoman in Oklahoma City there was a child present at the time.

"From what I understand it was a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship," Gregory said. "I don't know who the child was; if it was theirs, hers or his."

The newspaper said officer were called to a residence Saturday afternoon where the alleged incident occurred.

The Thunder issued a written statement saying the team was aware of the arrest and was waiting for more details, CNN said.

Liggins was signed by the Thunder last year after playing his rookie season with the Orlando Magic. He averaged 1.5 points per game off the bench in 39 games last season.
