MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers 4, Chicago Cubs 0

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Ricky Nolasco struck out 11 over eight shutout innings Wednesday, elevating the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-0 whitewash of the Chicago Cubs.

Nolasco (11-9) won for the seventh time in eight starts, scattering three hits and a walk while lowering his ERA to 2.08 over seven August appearances. The right-hander tossed 78-of-117 pitches for strikes.

Andre Ethier (2-for-4) and Hanley Ramirez each socked a solo homer for National League West-leading Los Angeles, which took the rubber match of a three-game series.

Cubs starter Edwin Jackson (7-14) was touched for four runs (two earned) on six hits over 6 2/3 innings.
