WASHINGTON, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Ross Ohlendorf
twirled five innings of one-run ball Tuesday and the Washington Nationals used a pair of first-inning runs to get past Miami 2-1.
Ohlendorf (3-0) allowed just three hits, walked one and struck out three in the 78-pitch effort.
Tanner Roark, Drew Storen and Tyler Clippard each tossed an inning of scoreless relief and Rafael Soriano finished up with his 34th save as the Nats took the first of a three-game series.
Ian Desmond went 3-for-4 with a first-inning RBI and Jayson Werth also drove in a run for Washington.
Marlins starter Nelson Eovaldi (2-5) took the hard-luck loss, surrendering two runs on eight hits over six innings. He walked one and fanned six.
Christian Yelich homered for Miami's only run.
