WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- No. 6 seed Sam Querrey rolled into the semifinals of the Winston-Salem Open Thursday with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Ricards Berankis.

Querrey, the highest remaining seed in the event, is looking for his first tournament title since winning in Los Angeles last year. That was the seventh championship of his career, one that currently finds him ranked 29th in the world.

He will meet Jurgen Melzer in the semifinals after Melzer eliminated Dmitry Tursunov 6-4, 6-3.

The other semifinal will send Gael Monfils against Alexandr Dogopolov.

Monfils rallied in the quarterfinals to defeat Fernando Verdasco 6-7 (8-10), 6-4, 6-4 and Dogopolov disposed of Yen-Hsun Lu 7-6 (7-2), 6-3.
