Ski jumper Hendrickson injures knee in training

OBERSDORF, Germany, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- American ski jumper Sarah Hendrickson injured her right knee Wednesday during training in Obersdorf, Germany, the U.S. Ski Team announced.

Hendrickson, 19, of Park City, Utah, received medical attention and will fly back to the Utah with the team Friday for further medical evaluation, Kyle Wilkens, team medical director, said.

Hendrickson was the 2011-12 women's World Cup ski jumping champion, is considered a heavy favorite heading into the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Wednesday.
