Cowboys sign Lee to six-year extension

Aug. 21, 2013 at 9:46 PM

ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- The Dallas Cowboys announced Wednesday they had signed middle linebacker Sean Lee to a six-year contract extension.

The team said the deal was worth $42 million with $16 million of it guaranteed. Lee could earn as much as $51 million with incentives.

Lee, in his fourth NFL season, was selected in the second round of the 2010 draft and became a starter in his second year with the Cowboys. He had season-ending surgery after six games of the 2012 campaign due to a toe injury.

The 2013 season was to have been the last in the contract he signed prior to his rookie year.
