Hernandez says he misses daughter in jailhouse letter

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez maintained his innocence in a letter from jail to a fan, and mentioned missing his baby daughter.

"My biggest fear of all is she won't know daddy," Hernandez wrote of his daughter, born in November, in a two-page letter to fan Collin Imm.

Hernandez, writing from a North Dartmouth, Mass., prison, is accused in the death of friend Olin Lloyd, whose bullet-riddled body was found near Hernandez' home in June. He has pleaded not guilty.

The letter to Imm, postmarked July 17, also said, "I'm a great dude. Don't believe all the negative publicity," and described his incarceration as "God's plan," the celebrity news website Radar Online said.
