ENDICOTT, N.Y., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Kenny Perry kept his hot streak going Friday, firing a 65 that gave him the first-round lead at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.

Perry has been the best player on the Champions Tour during the heart of the over-50 circuit's season, having finished among the first three in five of his last eight appearances. Those include wins at two major events -- the Senior Players Championship and the U.S. Senior Open.

He is trying to win the 1,000th tournament in the history of the Champions Tour.

Perry made only one bogey at the En-Joie Golf Club course and his round was highlighted by an eagle at the par-5 12th. Despite his bogey at the 14th, he played the last eight holes in 5-under.

Brothers Bart and Brad Bryant both shot a 66 to share second place with Joel Edwards while Jeff Freeman, Rick Fehr, Russ Cochran and Esteban Toledo all had a 67.

The Bryants make up one of 12 brother combinations to have ever played on the PGA or Champions Tour.
