BRISTOL, Conn., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Police in Connecticut said the search of a pond turned up no new evidence in the investigation into accused killer Aaron Hernandez.

Investigators didn't say what they were searching for in Pine Lake in Bristol, Conn., but officials previously told CNN they were looking for the .45-caliber handgun they suspect Hernandez used to kill Odin Lloyd June 17.

"No evidence was recovered and, at the present time, no more dives are planned," Lt. Kevin Morrell said Tuesday.

Investigators began searching a small retention pond across the street from Pine Like Tuesday, CNN said.

Hernandez, a rising star for the New England Patriots, is charged with killing Lloyd in a personal dispute.
