JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Ryan Tannehill threw a touchdown pass on Miami's first possession Friday, igniting the Dolphins to a 27-3 exhibition victory over Jacksonville.

Tannehill, expected to start for the Dolphins when the regular season begins, went 5-of-9 for 75 yards and he gave Miami the early lead when he hit Dustin Keller with a 22-yard throw. That score came at the end of a seven-play, 80-yard drive.

Jonas Gray added a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs in the second and fourth quarters to bring the Dolphins a win after they dropped their opening exhibition encounter against Dallas in the Hall of Fame Game.

Rookie Caleb Sturgis, hoping to win the Miami kicking job over Dan Carpenter, helped his cause with two field goals -- one of them from 58 yards.

Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne began the preseason competing for the Jacksonville quarterback spot and Henne had the better of it Friday. He completed 8-of-11 passes for 87 yards. Gabbert had an interception among his 10 throws.
