IOC president Jacques Rogge said Friday the organization has asked Russian officials to clarify the effect of the "gay propaganda" laws, which outlaw actions that could be seen as promoting homosexuality to minors, on athletes and spectators at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, RIA Novosti reported Friday.
Rogge said the IOC is analyzing a written statement from Russian officials saying the law would not apply to Olympic athletes and visitors.
"We received it yesterday and we studied it this morning," he said. "There are still uncertainties and we have asked for more clarification as of today."
