MLB: Texas 10, Los Angeles Angels 3

ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Adrian Beltre had three hits, including a home run, and scored four runs Wednesday in pacing the Texas Rangers to a 10-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Beltre knocked in a run and scored another in the Rangers' three-run third inning, singled and scored in the fifth, hit a two-run home run in the sixth and scored on David Murphy's two-run double in the eighth to key the Texas 16-hit attack.

The Rangers had run-producing rallies in six innings in completing a three-game sweep of the Angels. Texas, which has won nine of its last 10 games, pulled into a virtual tie with Oakland for first in the American League West.

Alexi Ogando (5-3) used the offensive support to collect the win. He allowed two runs and four hits over five innings. Texas reached Los Angeles starter Tommy Hanson (4-3) for five runs on seven hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings.

Hanson hit the game's first batter --- Leonys Martin -- with a pitch. Martin stole second and Elvis Andrus walked. Martin and Andrus each stole another base -- they had three steals each Wednesday -- and an intentional walk to Beltre set up a sacrifice fly by Mitch Moreland.

The Angels answered with a two-run home run by Mike Trout, who was marking his 22nd birthday (he also homered on his 21st birthday) in the bottom of the first but Texas went ahead for good with the three-run third in which Beltre had an RBI and scored a run.

Beltre's run in the fifth and 25th home run of the season in the sixth made the score 7-1. Martin added a sacrifice fly in the seventh and the Angels got an RBI double from Kole Calhoun before Murphy's eighth-inning double.
