NEW YORK, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Mets pitcher Dillon Gee scattered eight hits and New York scored twice on outs Thursday for a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rockies.
Gee (8-8) retired the side in order twice in his 7 2/3 innings of work. Seven of the eight hits he allowed were singles. The other was the second career home run by Corey Dickerson.
The Mets bullpen finished things off with 1 1/3 innings of no-hit relief. LaTroy Hawkins pitched the ninth for his second save. New York pitching allowed the Rockies just three runs over the three-game sweep.
Colorado starter Jeff Manship (0-1) lasted five innings, giving up both New York runs on four hits. He also walked three and struck out four. Manship was making his first major-league start since 2010 when he was with Minnesota.
Dickerson opened the fourth inning with a drive that cleared the wall in right center for his second home run.
Wilmer Flores grounded out but Murphy was able to score and Anthony Recker hit the next pitch deep enough for a sacrifice fly that got Byrd home for what proved to be the final run.
