HOUSTON, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Will Bruin scored one goal and assisted on another Saturday, fueling the Houston Dynamo's 3-1 victory over Columbus.

After Brad Davis had put the Dynamo up 1-0 with a tally in the 10th minute, Bruin doubled the advantage in the 31st, taking a pass from Oscar Boniek Garcia and firing in a shot from the 6-yard box.

An own-goal by the Dynamo's Jermaine Taylor made it 2-1 in the 75th minute, but Bruin helped seal the victory by setting up Cam Weaver's score 10 minutes later as Houston (9-6-6) stayed in the hunt for an Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Matt Lampson made one save for the Crew (6-11-5).
