SAN DIEGO, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Ivan Nova went handcuffed the Padres for seven innings and Curtis Granderson homered late Saturday, sparking the New York Yankees to a 3-0 win over San Diego.

Nova (5-4) scattered four hits and issued just one walk in breaking a personal two-start losing streak, placing 59-of-85 pitches for strikes.

David Robertson hurled a scoreless eighth inning and Mariano Rivera turned in a 1-2-3 ninth for his 35th save as the Yankees evened their three-game interleague series.

Nova and Padres starter Tyson Ross engaged in a scoreless pitcher's duel until the seventh inning, when Alfonso Soriano led off with a single and Granderson followed by lining a 1-0 pitch over the right field fence for two runs.

Ross (2-5) ended up allowing two runs on three hits over six innings, walking three and striking out nine.
