MLS: New York 3, Sporting KC 2

KANSAS CITY, Kan., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Fabian Espindola scored the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute Saturday and the New York Red Bulls went on to a 3-2 win over Sporting Kansas City.

With the score knotted 1-1, Lloyd Sam sent the ball down the right side and found Espindola with a pass that was ruled just onside after Sporting defender Aurelien Collin failed to get the call.

Espindola got past him and sent the ball into the net for his seventh goal of the year.

Sam added a much-needed insurance goal 6 minutes later and Jonathan Steele logged a goal and an assist for the Red Bulls (11-7-5), who have gone unbeaten in four matches and moved two points ahead of SKC (10-7-6) in the Eastern Conference.

Kei Kamara tallied in the 45th minute and Dominic Dwyer scored in stoppage time for Kansas City.
