Del Potro, Isner reach Citi Open semifinals

WASHINGTON, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- No. 1 seed Juan Martin Del Potro and John Isner, seeking his second straight tournament title, both reached the semifinals Friday at the Citi Open.

Del Potro defeated Kevin Anderson 7-6 (7-0), 6-3 to earn a semifinal meeting with No. 3 seed Tommy Haas.

Haas outlasted Grigor Dimitrov in a pair of tiebreaks 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3).

Isner, the eighth seed who defeated Anderson in the finals at Atlanta last week to win his second title of the year, rallied to defeat Marcos Baghdatis 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-4. He will face Dmitry Tursunov, who outlasted Marinko Matosevic 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4).
