Russian anti-doping agency bans four weightlifters

MOSCOW, July 29 (UPI) -- The Russian Anti-Doping Agency said four weightlifting athletes have been given two-year bans for violations of anti-doping rules.

The agency said Andrey Rybakov, Amina Maskhadova, Igor Petrov and Kristina Silkina, who were already serving provisional suspensions, were given full two-year suspensions in a Monday ruling, RIA Novosti reported Monday.

Petrov tested positive for a banned substance at Russian Cup late last year and his suspension began retroactive to last Dec. 19. Rybakov's suspension was ordered to begin retroactive to last Oct. 8.

Maskhadova and Silkina, who both tested positive at the Russian Weightlifting Championships in Kazan in May, are serving their suspensions from June 26.
