BRISTOL, Conn., July 29 (UPI) -- Connecticut police are searching a lake where former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez allegedly ditched a gun he used to kill a man.

Hernandez has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd last month. Police have said Hernandez shot Lloyd but the gun used, a .45 caliber Glock, has not been recovered.

WFSB-TV, Hartford, Conn., reported Monday police received an anonymous tip the gun was thrown into a lake in Bristol, Conn., after the shooting.
