MLB: Tampa Bay at Boston, ppd., rain

July 25, 2013 at 9:54 PM

BOSTON, July 25 (UPI) -- The scheduled game between Tampa Bay and Boston was postponed Thursday due to rain.

Tampa Bay has won 16 of its last 19 outings to move within a half game of Boston for the lead in the American League East. The postponed game will be made up next Monday at 6:10 p.m. EDT, which was to have been an off day for both clubs.

Prior to that makeup game, Tampa Bay will visit the New York Yankees for a weekend series and Boston will be at Baltimore.

After Monday's meeting, the Rays and Red Sox are scheduled to play three more times with Boston visiting Tampa Bay Sept. 10-12.
