MLB: New York Yankees 2, Texas 0

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 25 (UPI) -- Hiroki Kuroda pitched seven innings Thursday in helping the New York Yankees to a 2-0 win over Texas.

Kuroda (10-6) gave up six hits and walked one while striking out three. The Rangers only got one runner as far as third base in the game.

David Robertson chipped in an inning of no-hit relief before Mariano Rivera finished with a one-hit ninth for his 33rd save.

Texas starter Derek Holland (8-6) allowed both New York runs, surrendering eight hits and walking one over 7 1/3 innings.

He took a three-hit shutout bid into the sixth when Austin Romine led off the inning with a double and scored on a one-out double by Brent Lillibridge.

Robinson Cano had a one-out double in the eighth that chased Holland from the game. Vernon Wells greeted reliever Tanner Scheppers with a single that got Cano to third, from where he scored on a fielder's choice.
