MLB: Pittsburgh 5, Washington 1

WASHINGTON, July 23 (UPI) -- Gerrit Cole allowed just two hits over seven innings and went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate Tuesday in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 5-1 win over Washington.

Cole (5-3) yielded a first-inning single to Bryce Harper and a third-inning solo homer to Wilson Ramos, but otherwise shut the door on the Nationals, retiring 15 of the final 16 batters he faced.
