July 21, 2013 at 7:04 PM

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 21 (UPI) -- Bartolo Colon twirled a four-hit shutout Sunday, recording his 13th victory of the season in the Oakland Athletics' 6-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Colon (13-3) handed out just one walk and struck out five en route to his 12th career shutout and third of the year, matching a career high set in 2002.

The veteran right-hander has gone 10-1 with a 1.62 ERA in his last 13 starts for American League West-leading Oakland, which avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Angels.

Eric Sogard cracked a two-run homer and Brandon Moss went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Athletics.

Los Angeles starter Jerome Williams (5-6) was touched for four runs (three earned) on eight hits in five innings.
