SYLVANIA, Ohio, July 21 (UPI) -- Beatriz Recari shook off Paula Creamer with a birdie on the 14th hole Sunday and went to claim a one-stroke victory at the Marathon Classic.

Recari and Creamer came into the final round tied for the lead, and remained so until the 14th when Recari drained a 12-foot birdie putt.

The Spaniard added another birdie on the 16th to match her competitor, then parred No. 18, completing a round of 5-under 66. That was good enough for a one-shot margin of victory at 17-under 267.

Recari notched her second LPGA triumph of the season with the clutch performance at Highland Meadows Golf Club.

Creamer ended with a 67, coming up a bit short in her quest for a 10th career win.

Sharing third place at minus-13 were Jodi Ewart Shadoff (66) and Lexi Thompson (67).

Angela Stanford (67) and Jacqui Concolino (70) finished knotted for fifth at minus-10.
