DETROIT, July 14 (UPI) -- Justin Verlander took a no-hitter into the seventh inning Sunday, racking up his 10th victory in the Detroit Tigers' 5-0 whitewash of Texas.

Verlander (10-6) didn't allow a hit until Mitch Moreland's two-out double in the seventh. The Tigers' ace finished by allowing the just the two-bagger over seven scoreless frames, walking three and striking out three.

Jhonny Peralta smacked a solo homer -- going back-to-back with Victor Martinez in the fourth -- and added an RBI single while Torii Hunter also went deep with the bases empty for Detroit.

Matt Tuiasasopo also drove in a run for American League Central-leading Detroit, which went into the All-Star Game break by taking the rubber match of their three-game series.

Martin Perez (3-2) yielded five runs on four hits over 5 2/3 frames for the Rangers, who came into the contest trailing AL West-leading Oakland by one game.
