July 12, 2013 at 1:39 AM

LOS ANGELES, July 12 (UPI) -- Chris Capuano threw 6 1/3 shutout innings Thursday and received 13 hits worth of support in sending the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-1 win over Colorado.

Mark Ellis had three hits and drove in four runs to pace the Los Angeles offense and help the Dodgers to their fifth consecutive victory.

Capuano (3-6) gave up six hits and struck out eight without walking a batter. He returned to the rotation after making two relief appearances over the last two weeks.

Los Angeles opened the scoring on an RBI double by Jerry Hairston in the second and Ellis singled home two runs in the fourth.

The Dodgers added three runs in the eighth, two of them brought in by an Ellis single.

Drew Pomeranz (0-3) took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in four innings. He has made three starts since being called up on June 30 and has lost them all.
