MLB: Cincinnati 4, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, July 12 (UPI) -- Bronson Arroyo made a three-run first inning stand up by working seven innings Friday, bringing Cincinnati a 4-2 win over Atlanta.

Atlanta's Upton brothers both left the game with injuries. B.J. Upton exited in the first inning with a strained muscle in his midsection after failing to make a diving catch in center field and Justin Upton strained his left calf in the seventh.

The Braves also lost outfielder Jason Heyward to a hamstring injury on Thursday.

Arroyo (8-7) gave up three hits with a walk and his bid for a shutout was spoiled when Brian McCann hit a two-out homer in the seventh.

Aroldis Chapman gave up a run in the ninth, but still earned his 21st save.

Brandon Phillips singled in two runs in the first and although Phillips was then erased in a double play, Todd Frazier added a score in the inning when he tripled home Joey Votto.

Kris Medlen (6-9) gave up four runs on nine hits in four-plus innings to take the loss.
