MLB: Detroit 8, Chicago White Sox 5

DETROIT, July 10 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder each had three of Detroit's 15 hits Wednesday, helping the Tigers outslug the Chicago White Sox 8-5.

Detroit won for the 50th time in 90 games this season, taking the lead for good when Fielder hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Fielder also had an RBI single during a three-run sixth that gave the Tigers an 8-3 lead.

Cabrera singled in a run in the sixth as well while going 3-for-5. His 92 RBI and .366 batting average lead all of baseball.

Rick Porcello (6-6) lasted six innings to get the win, giving up three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts. Joaquin Benoit allowed two walks in the ninth, but did not surrender a run and collected his eighth save.

The loss went to Dylan Axelrod (3-6), who was touched for seven runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3.
