CLEVELAND, July 5 (UPI) -- Rick Porcello gave up five hits through seven innings Friday in boosting Detroit to its fourth straight win, 7-0 over Cleveland.

Porcello (5-6) walked two and struck out six to snap a personal three-start losing streak. Al Alburquerque and Bruce Rondon worked an inning each to finish off the shutout.

Ramon Santiago put the Tigers in front with a two-run single in the second and Detroit broke things open with a three-run fifth that was highlighted by Jhonny Peralta's two-run double.

It was the opener of a four-game series between the top two teams in the American League Central and the Tigers extended their lead over the Indians to 2 1/2 games.

Justin Masterson (10-7) was charged with the loss, having allowed six runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.
