MLB: San Francisco 5, Colorado 2

DENVER, June 30 (UPI) -- Madison Bumgarner fired seven solid innings and Hunter Pence homered Sunday, helping San Francisco break a six-game skid with a 5-2 win over Colorado.

Bumgarner (8-5) tamed the Rockies on four hits, issuing three walks while striking out five in posting his fourth victory in five starts.

Pence's two-run shot in the fifth inning broke open a close game and handed the Giants a 4-0 lead.

Tony Abreu went 3-for-5 with a run scored and Buster Posey added a solo shot as San Francisco avoided a three-game sweep.

Drew Pomeranz (0-1), called up from Class AAA Colorado Springs before the game, was touched for four runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings for the second-place Rockies, who remained two games behind National League West leader Arizona.

Michael Cuddyer went 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to 27 games, and Carlos Gonzalez belted a solo homer for Colorado.
