ATLANTA, June 29 (UPI) -- Jason Heyward's RBI double Saturday ignited a seven-run explosion in the eighth inning that rallied the Atlanta Braves over Arizona 11-5.

The Braves were trailing 5-4 entering the eighth when David Hernandez (4-5) hit pinch-hitter Reed Johnson and Andrelton Simmons with pitches in back-to-back at-bats.

Heyward followed with a double, scoring Johnson with the tying run, and Simmons also scored for a 6-5 lead when outfielder Jason Kubel threw wildly back to the infield.

Brian McCann, Dan Uggla, B.J. Upton and Chris Johnson each added an RBI before the inning was through as the National League East-leading Braves clinched their three-game series from NL West-leading Arizona.

Freddie Freeman bashed a two-run homer and scored three times while Justin Upton went 3-for-4 with a run scored for Atlanta.

Jordan Walden (3-1) was credited with the victory despite yielding a go-ahead homer to Miguel Montero in the top of the eighth.

A.J. Pollock cracked a two-run shot for the Diamondbacks.
