MLB: Los Angeles Angels 3, Detroit 1 (10 innings)

DETROIT, June 27 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols broke a 10th-inning tie with an RBI double Thursday, sending the Los Angeles Angels to a 3-1 victory over Detroit.

The Angels swept the three-game series, the first time Detroit has been swept at home since early last season.

The score had been tied since the fourth inning when J.B. Shuck opened the 10th with a single off Phil Coke (0-5). Mike Trout singled Shuck to third and Pujols then drove a double to deep center to bring in the go-ahead run.

Trout tacked on a run on a sacrifice fly to left by Josh Hamilton.

The win went to Kevin Jepsen (1-2), who survived a single and a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth. Ernesto Frieri gave up a leadoff base hit in the 10th, but went on to earn his 19th save.

Detroit's only run came in the second on Brayan Pena's RBI single. The Angels strung together three straight singles in the fourth to tie it -- Brad Hawpe driving in Hamilton.
