GLENVIEW, Ill., June 22 (UPI) -- Craig Stadler fired a 7-under-par 65 Saturday, vaulting into the lead of the inaugural Encompass Championship after two rounds.

Stadler, seeking his first Champions Tour win since 2004, ended the day with a two-shot advantage at 12-under-par 132.

The 1982 Masters champ -- who has posted just one Top 10 finish this season in nine starts -- outpaced Bob Tway (65) and Jeff Sluman, who carded a 6-under 66 to end at 10-under 134.

Sole possession of fourth place was held by David Frost (67) at minus-9.

Bernhard Langer (69), Steve Pate (69), Mark Calcavecchia (69) and Tom Lehman (66) were knotted one shot further back at 8-under.
