MLB: Boston 10, Detroit 6

DETROIT, June 21 (UPI) -- Shane Victorino had four of Boston's 17 hits Friday and drove in a season-best five runs, powering the Red Sox to a 10-6 decision over Detroit.

Boston built a 6-1 lead through four innings, surrendered a four-run fifth and then expanded its lead once more to win for the third time in five games.

Victorino hit a solo homer in the first, had a two-run single during a four-run fourth, contributed an RBI single in the sixth and brought home another run in the seventh on a fielder's choice grounder.

Boston scored in six different innings to bring Jon Lester a win despite a rough outing. Lester (7-4) gave up five runs on nine hits in 5 2/3.

The Red Sox shelled Doug Fister (6-5) for six runs on 11 hits in 3 1/3 innings. Six members of the Boston starting lineup had at least two hits

Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-4 and hit a three-run homer in the fifth that briefly brought the Tigers within one. Cabrera leads the majors with 74 RBI and his batting average has climbed to .366.
