Allen Iverson's ex-wife accuses him of kidnapping their five children

ATLANTA, June 17 (UPI) -- Former NBA all-star Allen Iverson's ex-wife has accused him of abducting their five children.

Philly.com reported Monday Tawanna Iverson filed court documents in Atlanta alleging her ex-husband failed to bring back the children, ages 3-16, after taking them for a five-day vacation to Charlotte, N.C., last month.

TMZ first reported he had agreed to return them May 26 but failed to do so. The entertainment news website said Tawanna Iverson, who has sole custody of the children, tried to arrange for an exchange at a neutral site June 4 but he never showed.

She now believes he never took the children to North Carolina and is now keeping them at a Sheraton hotel in Georgia, TMZ said.

She contends she is especially concerned because her ex-husband is an alcoholic who drinks around the children, TMZ said.

Despite having earned millions during his NBA career, Iverson reportedly owes $40,000 in child support, said Tawanna Iverson, who wants him locked up.

Allen Iverson has filed legal documents denying his ex-wife's claims.

Iverson was an 11-time all-star and the 2001 NBA most valuable player. He played in the NBA from 1996 to 2010, with stints with Philadelphia, Denver, Detroit and Memphis.
