NUREMBERG, Germany, June 15 (UPI) -- Seventh-seeded Simona Halep of Romania beat Andrea Petkovic of Germany in Nuremberg Saturday for her first WTA career victory.

Halep, playing in her fourth WTA final, served six aces Saturday and upended Petkovic 6-3, 6-3 on the red clay surface.

Halep broke Petkovic's serve three times and fended off all eight of Petkovic's breaks.

The win came in the wake of Halep's semifinal loss to Serena Williams at the French Open.
