MLB: Oakland 5, New York Yankees 2

OAKLAND, Calif., June 13 (UPI) -- Brandon Moss hit two home runs and Oakland limited New York to four hits Wednesday in downing the Yankees 5-2.

The Athletics defeated the Yankees for the second straight night, jumping to an early lead when Moss hit a two-run blast in the second inning. He also contributed a solo homer in the eighth.

John Jaso drove in the other two Oakland runs with a double in the fifth and a single in the eighth.

Dan Straily (4-2) worked 6 2/3 innings to get the win, allowing both New York runs on three hits with a lone walk. Grant Balfour put two runners on with two out in the ninth before recording his 17th save.

The loss went to Phil Hughes (3-5), who surrendered three runs on four hits in 4 1/3.
