BOSTON, June 4 (UPI) -- Stephen Drew went 4-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored to pace a 19-hit assault Tuesday, propelling the Boston Red Sox over Texas 17-5.
Mike Carp (3-for-4, three RBI, three runs scored), Daniel Nava (3-for-4, RBI, four runs scored) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (3-for-5, solo home run, two RBI, three runs scored) also had big nights as Boston rapped out 19 hits.
Rookie Jackie Bradley Jr. chipped in with his first major league home run -- a two-run clout that triggered a six-run second inning -- and finished with three RBI as the Red Sox notched a fourth win in five games.
Ryan Dempster (3-6) collected his first victory since May 2 -- a span of five starts -- holding the Rangers to three runs on five hits over seven innings for Boston, which took the opener of a three-game series pitting American League division leaders.
The Rangers' Justin Grimm (5-4) was torched for eight runs on seven hits in 1 2/3 innings.
Jeff Baker, Mitch Moreland and Nelson Cruz each hit home runs and A.J. Pierzynski added three hits for Texas.
